Finding Sufficiency in Christ Through Lifes “Even if’s”

Have you ever felt like you are one step behind those around you? While everyone else seems to be moving forward with their lives, you are stuck in one place with no traction.

Before I got married I felt this way. It seemed like all of my friends had met their person, gotten married and started having families before I even met my husband. A step behind.

And now? The majority of our friends are having kids of their own. Some are even on numbers 3 or 4 and we aren’t sure that’s ever going to be an option for us. A step behind.

Now before you start to feel sorry for me, let me say one thing. These different times in my life have brought greater dependency on God. They have allowed for nearness to Him in ways I never imagined. I share this NOT for pity, but simply to show the goodness of God and the richness of His mercies.

You see, it’s in these moments that I realize something so incredibly true.

His grace IS sufficient.

His strength IS made perfect in my weakness.

It’s when I am “lacking” things in this world that I find my sufficiency in Christ.

I don’t know if I’ll ever have the privilege of being a mom. I am a dog mom, but they tell me it’s quite a bit different (and yet all too similar!). 😊 But the reality is this: IT’S OKAY. Because while the title wife, mama, sister and friend are all incredibly important and never to be taken lightly, they don’t define us. The most important title we will ever carry is daughter of the King. Everything else is just added blessing.

May we realize through all of life’s “even if’s” that His grace is sufficient.

Even if you never have kids, His grace is sufficient.

Even if you never marry, His grace is sufficient.

Even if everyone around you seems to be moving forward and you feel stuck, His grace is sufficient.

Even if this quarantine lasts a lot longer…His grace is sufficient.

Even if you don’t receive healing here on Earth…His grace is sufficient.

Even if the diagnosis doesn’t look good…His grace is sufficient.

Even if your bank account is lacking… His grace is sufficient.

Even if your prayers are answered differently than you had hoped…His grace is sufficient.

I know it’s hard. I know that desire in your heart is real. I know that current situation is scary. Especially when you are in the middle of the fire, not on the other side of it. But I also know that right there in the middle of the fire when things are less than perfect – He is with you. In fact, it’s through those very situations where we learn that His grace truly is sufficient. It’s where we learn that He truly is our strength. It’s where we realize He is enough.

Draw near to Him, friends.

We are daughters of the King!

In Him, we have all we need!

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” II Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭

What does being a daughter of the King mean to you? What “even if” are you currently walking through?
