The Battle is His

Several years ago I found myself in a difficult situation. I honestly don’t remember all the details, and I think that’s probably a good thing. But what I do remember is that lies were being told and I was being treated unfairly as a result. And I’m guessing that you have a similar situation that comes to mind as you are reading this. Whether it’s someone being mean or harsh, unkind or unfair. Relationships can be difficult, because we are all human and make mistakes. But here’s what I’ve found…

When a situation like this arises, I tend to get very defensive. Sometimes I go into it with my gloves on, ready to fight. And then what happens? Things get heated, hurtful words are said, and the situation is left worse than when it started.

Over the years and with each new situation, I’m reminded that I don’t have to defend myself. Why? Because the Lord is my Defender and He will fight for me.

Exodus 14:13-14 says,

“But Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see the Lord’s salvation He will provide for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you must be quiet.””

We all know the story of the Israelites and their escape from Pharaoh. We know about the plagues and the parting of the Red Sea. Miracle after miracle took place and it truly is a remarkable story. I mean just think about it. The Israelites had escaped from Egypt only to end up at a massive body of water with the Egyptians coming fast behind. I don’t know about you, but that’s about the time my fear and anxiety would set in. There was absolutely no where to go. But then, God parts the Red Sea. You guys! God. Parts. The Red Sea.

I think sometimes when we hear something so often, it can lose its effect if we aren’t careful. But just imagine you were standing in front of a body of water when all of a sudden it splits in two and you walk across on DRY ground. We’d all be snapping pictures for Instagram!

The Red Sea was parted, the Egyptians were gone, and the Israelites were free. The Israelites just had to be quiet and let God do the fighting.

And God fights for us, too. But so often we get in the way. We want to handle it on our own and we respond in anger or frustration when God simply wants us to just be quiet and let Him fight for us.

Psalms 7:10 says, “My defense is of God, who saves the upright in heart.”

No matter what the situation, let God fight for you. We have no better shield & refuge than our powerful God.

Happy Magnify Monday, friends! Let’s remember that the battle is the Lord’s and He will fight for us!

“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18:2‬
