All Things New

I have a lot of goals for this new year. Probably too many, but I would rather try and fail than not try at all. A few of those goals are the following: become more comfortable and better in the kitchen, hike more (AZ is such a great place for that!), read the Bible chronologically, and say goodbye to soda (again!). My husband and I have a verse for this year, and I may share that at a later time.

But as I began to pray for my “word of the year”, I really felt the Lord was placing the word “NEW” on my heart. And if I am being honest, I ignored it at first! It seemed like such a “typical” word and I wanted something different and unique. But as I began to think on the word “new” and find Scriptures with that word in them, I realized it was a perfect fit! And of course it was, Aimee. The Lord always knows best.

Here are a few verses that really stood out to me, two of which are my personal verses for the year. (They are marked with ** )

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a NEW thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” – Isaiah 43:18-19 **

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are NEW every morning; Great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 **

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become NEW.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things NEW.” And He said to me, Write, for these words are true and faithful.” Revelation 21:5

I LOVE these verses and the promises in them. I love that I can look back and remember times that the Lord has made rivers in the desert and a road in the wilderness in my own life. And I love that Scripture records many examples of this as well.

I have seen time and time again that His mercies are NEW every morning and He is faithful.

I am a NEW creature, and through Christ, I have the power to say no to the former things. And what a sweet promise, that He makes all things NEW.

As we are now on day 10 of a 365 page book, there will no doubt be new adventures, new opportunities, and new trials. But I am so thankful for these promises in Scripture that give great hope to the year ahead. And I am so, so thankful that He doesn’t save me and leave me as I am, but that He makes me NEW in Him.

So bring on 2019 and all the NEW things!

Always,

Aimee
