The Goodness of God

It won’t come as any surprise when I say that this world is getting crazier by the day. If I’m being honest, I sometimes find myself longing for simpler times. Times when the world seemed safer and slower.

Speaking of simpler times, you know what I really miss? Strangers waving just to wave. Growing up, I remember everyone waving at everyone for no reason at all other than pure friendliness. Maybe it’s a Texas thing or maybe it’s a sign of the times. But people don’t just wave to wave anymore. I do, sometimes. And people usually end up looking at me like I’ve lost my literal mind. Ha!

But whether we like it or not, this is our reality. Times are uncertain & constantly changing. So in a situation that is less than ideal and certainly far from our favorite, what can we do?

Sure, we can choose to see the good, keep a positive outlook, and always be grateful. And we should be doing those things. But what really makes the difference, provides strength, and offers comfort is the Truth found in God’s Word.

It’s easy to claim the faith, rest in His promises, and remain positive when things are going great. But what about when things get tough, when situations are uncertain, and when times are hard?

If I’m being honest, there have been a few days in the last several months that have been difficult to fully trust & rest in His promises. But then isn’t true faith choosing to trust & rest in His promises even when we don’t ‘feel’ it or see the end in sight?

This is nothing new but it’s been on my heart. I have had to deliberately choose to believe the promises in His Word over everything else. And I’ve had to remind myself of who He is time and time again.

So I wanted to share one Truth with you and it’s this: God is good. Sure, we hear it and say it often. But do we really believe it?

Even David needed to remind himself, in a time where it was hard to see it, that he would indeed see the goodness of God again as he had in the past. And when we choose to believe that He is good even when times aren’t, He strengthens & sustains us through the difficulties.

Don’t lose heart! Remember how He has been good in the past. Look through the pages of Scripture and you will find example after example of His goodness. Allow Jesus & the Scripture to sustain you in these difficult days. We know who wins in the end, yes! But we can have victory & freedom right here and now through Jesus Christ. He is good, y’all. He is so very good!

I challenge you to study further in Scripture about the goodness of God. It’s an encouraging study and one that is sure to bring reassurance to your heart! Love you, friends!
