In just a matter of weeks, our lives have halted. Suddenly we are spending all of our time at home. We aren’t meeting in person at all and let me just tell ya… I miss my people.
But this time will not be lost on me. When it ends, I want to look back and see growth, productivity, and joy in the midst of difficulty. I want to see that even in the hard times – laughter filled my days, Jesus filled my heart, and new recipes filled my belly.

Here is the reality: These times are hard. Very hard. I have many friends who are suffering & struggling. And my heart aches for them. We are praying desperately for miracles and we are expectant that God will work. Regardless of the outcomes, we know He is sovereign and He is still on His throne and we rest in those truths.
But even still, we must keep busy and stay productive. We need to move our bodies and minds. We have got to resist becoming couch potatoes, though some days the temptation might be real. 😆
So I thought I would share several things we can do at home, to keep on keeping on. Some are just for fun, some are critical to our well-being, and some are simply just suggestions.
Let’s get to it!
1. Take a walk. Seriously, do it. It’s such a simple thing, yet so good for our bodies. Capp (my dog) keeps me consistent, but each time we finish our walks I always feel refreshed and energized.

2. Start a prayer journal. Write down requests, get on your knees, spend time in prayer, and then go back and note how those prayers are answered. If these trying times aren’t enough to get us serious about our prayer life, I’m not sure what will.
3. Learn a new recipe. I’m not great in the kitchen, but I’ve tried a few new things lately. And tomorrow I’m planning on making Joanna Gaines chocolate chip cookies for the first time! What’s a new recipe you’ve tried recently?
4. Tie-dye DIY. I haven’t done this yet, but I have a handful of friends who have been doing it. And tie-dye is so in this year! I plan on doing it soon so I’ll have a cute new shirt to wear around no one. 🤣
5. Read. Not just your Bible, but especially your Bible. And after that, all the books.
6. Look for ways to serve others. Send a note, text, or gift. Pay for the car behind you in the drive-thru or takeout line. Pray for a specific person to encourage or help and watch as God places you in a position of opportunity. Yes, even in this social distancing world, it is possible to serve others while staying safely 6 feet away.
7. Take a drive. We like to jump in the car and drive to our favorite spots in the desert/mountains. Sometimes we don’t even get out but we always play music. It might surprise you how much worship music & a drive is good for your soul.

8. Watch SGN with John Krasinski. It’s a homemade show that he hosts and it’s full of good news. And that’s something we could all use a little bit of right now.
9. FaceTime your family & friends. We had a game night on the House Party app with friends, I’ve FaceTimed and Zoomed, and it’s so great to keep in touch this way. It makes this socially distant time seem less… distant. 😊
10. Camp out in your living room for movie night. Y’all, we did this and it was so fun! We did end up in the bed at some point but only because we woke up on the floor. That’s not supposed to happen when you are on an air mattress. Ha!
Alright, I’ve shared some of my favorite ideas. My husband said I was missing an important one. Decluttering. It is a great idea! But if we declutter anymore we will be left with nothing! Okay, now it’s your turn! Share an idea with me. We could all use a little inspiration!
Times are hard. Hearts are heavy. People are distant. But God is near. Press hard into Him and do something fun along the way. This too shall pass.
Love you, friends!
